The Island MFS Active is made of nubuck leather and belongs to category B/C, making it suitable for hikes in difficult terrain and with heavy loads.

Lined with GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort Footwear for 100% waterproofing and good breathability. Torsionally stiff and laterally stable - keeps the foot in place in all situations.

The Island MFS Active features MFS® – Memory Foam System – which is a foam in the heel that, with the help of body heat, molds to your foot and provides a perfect individual fit. DIGAfix® for heel fixation and sturdy hooks for quick lacing.

Rolling sole for comfortable and relieving walking, and a raised rubber coating to better withstand impacts and shocks in rugged terrain. Removable Air-Active® Soft Print drysole insole that can be hand-washed at 30 degrees. Outsole Meindl Multigriff® by Vibram®.

Best in test – multiple times

The Island is the hiking boot from Meindl that has been named Best in Test the most times and has won prestigious awards. In March 2020, the Danish website Outsite.org, with hiking tips & outdoor life in Scandinavia and the rest of the world, tested the Meindl Island MFS Active and subjected them to various challenges for over a year on, among other places, mountains, volcanoes, Scandinavian hiking trails, and of course, Iceland. The tester gave the Meindl Island MFS Active the highest rating ever on Outsite: 10 out of 10 with the statement "They are definitely the best hiking boot on the market!"

Find the right size

For the best fit, we recommend choosing a larger size than normal.
We recommend that boots are about 10 mm longer than your foot length to allow space for extra socks, different types of insoles, and because feet swell slightly during a day's hike.

Right socks

To achieve optimal climate comfort, it is really important to choose the best sock for the intended use. The function of the GORE-TEX® membrane is not affected by the socks worn with the shoe, but wearing the right sock can have a significant positive impact on the perceived climate comfort.

Look for the right material blend: 100% cotton absorbs a lot of moisture and releases it only very slowly. The moisture stays next to your feet and your feet start to feel cold. That's why a blend of high-quality wool (e.g., Merino) and synthetic fibers (e.g., polyester, polyamide) is best.

Care for your shoes and boots before first use!

All Meindl shoes and boots are indeed impregnated at the factory, but care products are volatile. So, impregnate or wax your shoes before first use.
